2BR Set To Release New Song - Bawumia Junction

Following the recent decision by government to cease all illegal mining activities across the country, a music group known as 2BR have stepped up to call on the ruling NPP to reconsider the decision through their latest song “Bawumia Junction”.

According to the group who hail partly from Obuasi and Bogoso, their only reason for releasing this song is to remind the government of its promises to the youth of this country who voted massively for jobs and positive change.

Nana Asante Clickwise, one of the two members of the group disclosed though it is irresponsible small scale miners to destroy water bodies in some areas, it would be lenient for the government to introduce measures to regulate mining activities instead putting a stop to the whole show.

“We are appealing to the president to provide a long lasting solution to youth unemployment before putting a ban on small scale mining which has become a major occupation for the youth. With this song we hope to impress upon the government to show mercy by sacking chinese heavy duty miners, and allow the youth of this country to use non-destructive methods to earn a living from the gold that is plenty in our soil” he said.

The controversial song titiled “Buwumia Junction” is scheduled to be released by 11am today on their twitter page.

Food & Drugs Authority Orders Removal Of Adonko Bitters from Ghanaian Market

The FDA has sanctioned Angel Group of Companies, manufacturers of Adonko Bitters after a concert organized by the Company at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi on Easter Monday April 17, 2017 left most of the youth passing out as a result of excessive intake of the alcoholic product.

FDA’s investigation confirmed that the criterion for gaining access to the concert was solely on condition that each individual purchased a 750ml bottle of the alcoholic beverage at a cost of GH¢10, a situation which resulted in the Alcoholic beverage being sold to minors as well. It also resulted in excessive consumption, clearly putting the consumers at risk of flouting the caution of drinking responsibly.

The situation also contravened Section 3.2.19 of the FDA Guidelines for the Advertisement of Food products which states that “No alcoholic beverage shall be advertised in relation to a public function where persons under the legal drinking age are likely to attend.”

The Company also contravened Section 3.2.12 of the FDA Guidelines for the Advertisement of Food products which prohibits the use of well-known personalities in the marketing of alcoholic beverages by engaging Shatta Wale and Bisa Kdei in the promotion programme.

These acts exposed patrons to the said programme to unwarranted serious health risks bordering on public health. The FDA has consequently sanctioned the Company as follows:

With immediate effect, the FDA has suspended the Registration and Advertisement License of Angel Group of Companies whilst investigations into the incident continue. The company has also been directed to recall the Product, Adonko Bitters, from trade and to furnish the FDA with details of the recall plan and subsequently, the progress of the recall plan. The company is to pay an administrative charge of GH¢25,000 for failing to comply with the above regulatory requirements.

The FDA will not hesitate to impose further sanctions should Angel Group of Companies fail to comply with these sanctions.

Personality Of The Week - Thomas Tetteh

Thomas Tetteh is the 32 year old fast rising journalist who hails from Krobo in the Eastern Region of Ghana.

The Odumase Krobo youth being passionate about journalism set out to pursue his dream. He joined Dynamite FM,  Tarkwa in August 2008 on internship, where thence rose to the News Editor position. He made his mark and acquired much experience until he left the station in December 2012.

Joining Trinity FM, in December 2012 as the News Editor and Programs Manager.

Thomas, TT as he is affectionately known was one of the only two journalists who were invited to the flagstaff house on January 7th 2014 after former President Mahama's first year in office for the president's meeting with the press.

After years of quality delivery and performance as staff of the station, Thomas was appointed the administrator for both fact and Trinity FM in January 2017 which are sister stations.

Thomas Tetteh is presently the News Editor of Trinity FM and also the English News broadcaster on Trinity Fm (News Express) at 10am.

Thomas believes in professionalism and responsible journalism. He is a staunch a Christian, and fears God with all his heart.

He is married to Mrs Gifty Tetteh, and they are blessed with a beautiful daughter.
