As part of its efforts to resource staff and improve performance and
revenue generation, Strategic Communications Ghana organized a two day
staff training workshop in Accra for O FM Ghana, and all staff of
Strategic Communications.
The workshop which commenced on 25th February and ended on the 26th
February 2016 was a multimedia training aimed at empowering young and
passionate staff members with exclusive knowledge that will facilitate
their responsibilities in achieving the overall objectives of their
respective media institutions.
Ahuma Bosco Ocansey, a Chartered Marketer and Director of
Communications and Special Projects at Musicians Union of Ghana, MUSIGA
as resource person shared his over 30 years of experience in radio
programming and content development with the house. Mr Ocansey,
popularly known as Daddy Bosco revealed that, in achieving the business
development goals of every media institution, content is a fundamental
key and deserves a serious attention from all stakeholders and staff
members.
Daddy Bosco highlighted that, in order to increase ratings and
revenue, program heads are responsible for producing compelling content
that will satisfy the target audience of a radio station, saying this in
effect will attract businesses and media buyers attention.
The Chartered Marketer and radio guru, advised all radio
practitioners to read wide and absorb every possible knowledge relevant
to their field of work in order to produce and deliver to the
expectation of their various audience.
Present at the conference was Dr Abeiku Aggrey Santana (C.E.O of O
FM) and his producer Alhaji Yellow Man of Despite Group of Companies to
sip from the fountain of Daddy Bosco`s extensive knowledge and
experience in radio.
In a brief address, Dr Abeiku Santana stated that, “good is the enemy
of greatness”, explaining that when one considers himself to be good at
something, it limits ones ability to improve and excel. He also advised
young radio staff to take their duties serious and work with due
diligence to in order to prove their worth to their employers and also
add value to themselves.
According Mr Richard Afoawah, Marketing Manager at O FM Ghana, the
workshop was very revealing and insightful, and will be beneficial to
every individual if taken serious and practiced accordingly.
Dr Abeiku Santana assured staff members that, such a relevant event
will be repeated on regular basis to ensure that young radio staff
acquire adequate and practical knowledge to serve their community and
the nation at large.
