The “Ekwanso Dwoodwoo” host who received the highest educational honors in his life on Saturday October 1, 2011 with two others, Maurice Kwabena Ampaw, a lawyer and Rev. Prince Emmanuel Atsu Agbesi, a minister with the Bible Seminary, at the Trans Continental Assemblies of God Church on the Spintex Road in Accra, is now the most influential player in Ghana media.
Abeiku was honored with Honorary Doctor of Humanities in recognition of his contribution to the Christian Ministry and Leadership. The honor was bestowed on him by the world acclaimed Pan African Clergy Council and Bible Seminary.
Dr. Gilbert Abeiku Aggrey aka Abeiku Santana holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Public Administration, DS in Criminal Law, Advanced Certificate in Public Relations and Advertising, an Associate in Legal Services and Litigation and Associate ACIM. He established his own business support firm, Strategic Communications about 12 years ago to identify young unemployed graduates for Events, Advertising, Public Relations and Human Resources.
Dr. Gilbert Aggrey was the second media guru after Kojo Oppong Nkrumah to express interest in going to Parliament. The astute presenter had wanted to contest in the NDC primaries in the Mfantseman constituency in the Central Region. Abeiku Santana had explained that he is competent enough to run for the position adding that the 18 years experience from working in the media will be beneficial in his work as MP if he is elected.
“I have been a voice and a mouthpiece for the people for the past 18 years. I have been in radio business for 18 years. I have heard people’s grievances, I have heard people’s concerns and I think there should be a new crop of legislators,” he said.
Though Dr. Aggrey refused to pick up nomination forms to contest in this years parliamentary primaries for well informed reasons, he has certainly exhibited his competency and patriotism through his interactions with Chiefs and people in the Mfanstiman constituency, and his undeniable humanitarian activities across the nation.
Married to Mrs. Genevieve Banyiwa Aggrey the Chief Director of OFM Ghana, Dr. Gilbert Aggrey spends a lot of time at home with his wife and children and also shows much interest in sports and entertainment on social media.
Today in Ghana, many youth have expressed their encounter with Abeiku Santana, talking of his generosity and down to earth personality which makes him easy to approach. Many have talked about his ability to listen and solve problems imminent in youthful thinking, and his leadership qualities that makes him a viable candidate for presidency in Ghana.
Recently, the Rap Doctor Okyeame Kwame on Twitter nominated Dr. Aggrey for presidency, this went viral on social media and radio platforms which highlighted his potentials and chances in the minds of Ghanaian electorates.
Now recognized as the most influential broadcaster in Ghana, it is hoped that his services to the people of Ghana, especially the youth will elevate him to a higher office in the future.
