The BENEMEF FOUNDATION and DR Wanda, Peki Adzokoe R.C Primary School Writing Contest

The importance of literacy in this generation cannot be over emphasised. Considering the recent global shift in the direction of information technology, it has become more necessary to develop reading and writing skills in African children to prepare them for the future, and to equipe them with the relevant knowledge to enable them compete in their chosen fields of education.
In view of the lack of basic structures and incentives that creates the conditions for proper education in our rural communities, Dr. Wanda Evans-Brewer partnered with Benemef Foundation to organise a writing contest for students of Peki Adzokoe R.C. Primary school in the Volta Region of Ghana.

The move, she claimed was to encourage the students to love reading and writing, as it is their major tool necessary for their studies in all subjects.
The contest which was themed "The ME I Choose to be" was to empower and assess the writing potential of the young female students, and to reward the top tier students.
In a Facebook post, Dr. Wanda had this to say "......The 2nd stop of our tour was Peki Adzokoe R.C. Primary School...We collected and read the (10) essays written by the girls on the theme “The Me I Choose To Be”...No doubt, they took the challenge serious. The writing was very good...it was decided to have the top (3) read before their parents who were gathered at the church...It was through this process we determined our winner...Elizabert Boafo, and 11 year old...who dreams of being a lawyer one day...Bravo! Elizabert...Keep writing like this and you surely will 🇬🇭"
Dr Wanda has been very passionate about education and made tremendous effort to support her community in every possible way. She installed a mini library at the Peki Adzokoe R.C Primary school for both boys and girls, where the children can go and read for free. She also set up a scholarship scheme for the young students of Kpone which gives financial support and other incentives to brilliant but needy students.

Dr. Wanda Draws Attention To Neurofibromatosis With Her Interview Dress

Dr. Wanda Evans-Brewer, a Pan African Activist and philanthropist yesterday stormed the studios of Pan African TV in Ghana,  wearing a dress designed by Rebecca Mensah, which draws attention to the skin disease Neurofibromatosis,  as well as the power of recycling. The dress is made of jute sacks normally used to carry rice,  maize and other market produce, after which they are disposed.
Dr. Wanda and the CEO of BENEMEF FOUNDATION were invited by Pan African TV morning show team to continue their talks on the free toilet project and free wheelchair mission project.

During the interview, Dr Wanda used the opportunity to touch on the issue of recycling in Ghana and also sensitised the viewers about this debilitating skin disease.
A condition that causes tumours to form in the brain, spinal cord and nerves.
Neurofibromatosis is usually non-cancerous. There are three types of this condition. Type 1 usually appears in childhood, while Types 2 and 3 appear in early adulthood.
The designer of the outfit Rebecca Mensah, sought to portray the rough skin side of the dress as the skin disease, and the flare side as freedom and hope for a cure.

BENEMEF FOUNDATION AND DR. WANDA EXTENDS CHARITY TO ADZOKOE HEALTH CENTRE IN THE VOLTA REGION

This year's Mother's Day was one of the best days for some people with mobility challenges in the Adzokoe area in the Volta Region of Ghana.

Dr. Wanda, Mr. Godsway (who roped in the Free Wheelchair Mission), together with  BENEMEF Foundation's  Benjamin Opare (CEO)  donated wheel chairs to the Adzokoe Health Centre to support some aged people with mobility challenges in the area.
A slope ramp was constructed at the entrance to the health centre to enable people with wheelchairs to have direct access to the the premises.
This gesture of love and compassion  was greatly appreciated by the beneficiaries, who could not have words to express their joy and gratitude for the support.
Dr Wanda went ahead with the team to commission a completed toilet project for homes that could not afford, a separate project targeted at the eradication of open deification in the community. Toilet kits were also given out for free to encourage people to use the newly constructed biodigestor toilets.
On Pan African TV last Wednesday, Dr. Wanda stated in an interview that, She is happy to support Ghanaian communities through her collaboration with BENEMEF FOUNDATION, and called on philanthropists and other organisations in and outside Ghana to support these activities.
